A First: Embassy of Poland collaborates with DC/DOX Film Festival
05.06.2025
The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Washington, D.C. is proud to announce our inaugural partnership with DC/DOX Film Festival, one of the capital's most exciting and thought-provoking film events. As part of this year's dynamic Shorts Program titled "OR FOREVER HOLD YOUR PEACE”, we warmly invite you to the North American premiere of the Polish short film "Lift Lady” - a moving and subtly humorous cinematic gem by director Marcin Modzelewski.
About the Film:
Set against the backdrop of a Soviet-era housing complex in Tbilisi, Lift Lady tells the story of Mzia, a toll elevator operator and former sniper, who has spent years navigating not just floors and buttons, but also the quiet repetitions of her daily life. Until one day — a small, unexpected moment changes everything. Through Mzia’s story, Modzelewski explores themes of loneliness, resilience, and the weight of history, delivering a nuanced narrative with both tenderness and wit. Inspired by the director’s personal experiences living in Georgia, Lift Lady invites us to reflect on the remnants of the past still present in everyday spaces.
🗓 When: Sunday, June 15, at 6:00 PM
